Connecting rod issue prompts recall of nearly 7,000 International trucks

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents, Navistar is recalling 6,883 model year 2018-2021 International HV, HX, LT, and RH trucks due to an International A26 engine issue.

In affected trucks, the connecting rod wrist pin may crack, causing a connecting rod failure and engine shutdown.

New knock detection software will warn drivers before engine connecting rod failure, and dealers will replace connecting rods for free. Owner notification letters should arrive Nov. 14. Navistar owners can call 1-800-448-7825 for recall 22518. NHTSA recall 22V-691.
